Next to ste. Chapelle, close to Notre Dame. You can see the cell that housed Marie Antoinette during the French Revolution. This is the place to go if you are interested in the French Revolution. I suggest getting the histopad, which gives more information and an idea of what the rooms looked like when they were in use. Purchase advanced tickets, combining with Ste. Chapelle. The building was flooded by the Seine, so an artist decided to make an artwork that controls how the river water gets into the builidng.
La Conciergerie provided an interesting yet somewhat disappointing visit. While a great deal of history resides here, there is not that much to see. That said, I would not skip visiting, as it is directly adjacent to Sainte-Chapelle, is not crowded, and can be explored in an hour or so.
We really enjoyed the fact that many of the interpretive material was also available in English, contrary to many other historical sites in Paris. Plenty of interesting stories and a short film about the first, second and post revolution eras makes it worthwhile to visit.
