Interesting. Beautiful. Fantastic architecture. Obviously the most interesting part of coming to visit is just to see the names of the people interred here. Walking through the crypts is a who’s who of French history dating back to the late 1700’s. And there’s a lot of space for more. Former presidents, scientists, writers and Nobel prize winners all grace the halls and several people who have played major roles in human history.
Worth the visit, quite expensive to get in to but that is pretty much standard for a Paris attraction.
Wonderful monument in the Latin Quarter of Paris. Built in the late of 18th century at the behest of King Louis XV of France. In 1791 at the National Constituent Assembly was voted to transform the church into a mausoleum for the distinguished French citizens. Among celebrities in Pantheon you’ll find tombs of Emil Zola, Victor Hugo, Marie Curie and Pierre Curie, etc. And, of course, the famous Foucault pendulum is also big attraction.
