Architecturally, this is a beautiful building and the painting are lovely, but if you are a Christian like me, you may not want to give it your financial support. The French usurped this building from The Church during during the French Revolution, gave it back, then took it again. They call it "The Temple to Great Men" - total arrogance. The French should tremble at their arrogance towards God and give it back to make amends. Psalm 2
Possibly a little pricey but well worth a visit. The murals and statues are lovely. The model of the building is also very interesting. And I particularly liked the recreation of Foucault's Pendulum. But the real reason for visiting has to be the vaults, where you can pay your respects to many prominent French citizens, including Louis Braille, Marie Curie, Emile Zola, Alexandre Dumas and Victor Hugo (amongst many others, of course).
Our visit was a little differnet as I really had no interest to view this monument, thinking it's just another one...... Well, strike me down, this one bowled me over, I never really knew or understood about its historical importance, but now having been exposed and becoming a little more informed, I am overwhelmed. I think one should take the time and sit and appreciate this one, as so much can be missed if you walk through without breathing it in.
