This building was formerly a prison and it was part of the royal palace together with the Palais de Justice and the Sainte Chapelle. We were interested in the waterfall outside the building so we visited this place. Inside it was quite empty except the artwork of the Seine water construction. Finally we knew where the waterfall came from. It was nice
Definitely worth a visit with the Sainte Chapelle. Amazing history this place has so be sure to read the literature on the walls, especially for all you Francophiles out there. Be sure to get the little histopad too, as it enhances the visit significantly.
This museum is a bit of a hidden gem - with half the number tourists of other museums in Paris. Doesn't take the whole day to visit - great for a stop of an hour or two. The remnants of an medieval castle, it gives you a glimpse of a part of a Paris that has mostly disappeared elsewhere. But the real reason to go is the exhibition of on the French revolution - its is explained in a compelling and balanced way (In English too!) It is not just pages of text, they make history feel more real with poignant objects and personal stories. Tip - worth the investment in the ipad which allows you to see the rooms as they would have looked. One of the best uses of technology in a museum I have seen.
