The tour was not as informative as I would have hoped. There is a historically inspired art installation in the base of the building, and then self-guided tour signs and videos set up, but not much else to see. I mean, it's basically a jail house, so if you don't understand or appreciate the historical relevance of it all, it's nothing exciting and I would recommend not going.
I found this museum fascinating and loved all of the information about the French Revolution-- I felt like a left with a primer and could now talk about important dates and events in a way I couldn't before. There's a lot packed in her if you read all the exhibits and watch the interspersed and informative videos. This museum is a combination of part of the old medieval castle that was later used as a prison. You can see where Marie Antionette and others spent their last days and imagine the size of the palace by the huge fireplaces in the kitchen area.
It is well worth visiting, the building and history are amazing. There were 6 of us and we all really enjoyed it. We would go again and highly recommend for all ages.
